Here is a small list of 10 fun sun-filled things to do in in the beautiful beachside city of Ventura this summer.
#1.Electric Bike Touring with Ventura Bike Depot
A new way to do brunch, Epic Electric Bike Brunch that is. Ventura Bike Depot offers many fun bike adventure tours – bicycle tours, electric bike tours, downhill tours, wine tasting tours and more.
#2.The Aerial Studio
The Aerial Studio is a dynamic school for the aerial arts, AIReal Yoga™, fitness, acrobatics, dance, and yoga. It is a place for daily fitness, a teacher training facility and a professional performance space. Their goal is to inspire health, wellness and togetherness in a safe and loving community. The youngest students are 3 years old and we have no cap for older students. A fun place for your whole family to explore what amazing things you can do!
#2.Ventura Boat Rental
Ventura Boat Rentals offers a variety of boat excursions to fit any budget including dinner Cruises, tours, private charters, and of course, boat rentals.
#4.Ventura Sportfishing
Ventura Sportfishing is a private sportfishing landing in Ventura, CA which includes the Amigo, the Island Spirit, the Pacific Dawn, and the Pacific Eagle sportfishing boats, experienced crews, and a variety of trips suitable for any traveler from novice fisherman to experienced angler. Ventura is a unique location on the California coast for sportfishing. Positioned just beneath the cusp of Point Conception, Ventura Sportfishing provides access to the best aspects of fishing in Southern California and Northern California. During summer months, Ventura experiences the warmer waters you would find in Mexico, and the fish species that accompany it. During winter months, the Japan current travels down the Northern California coast and creates a fishing environment similar to what you may experience near the San Francisco bay. Ventura provides an interesting balance between Southern and Northern California, and the local Channel Islands National Park provides unique scenery, attracts wildlife like seals, sea lions, dolphins, and sharks, while kelp beds create large concentrations of fish species including assorted Bass and Yellowtail. All of these elements combine to create one of the most dynamic fishing environments on the California coast. They have have sportfishing enthusiasts travel to Ventura from every region of California, particularly during the Summer, and many of their guests travel from other states and various regions of the country just to experience fishing in the Santa Barbara channel.
#6.BEACHES
Ventura Promenade
The Ventura Promenade is an oceanfront pathway that runs between the Ventura Pier and Surfers Point. Trail users can continue east into the San Buenaventura State Beach area but the trail ends at San Pedro St. The west end of the trail connects with a bike path that extends 15 miles all the way to Ojai. Be sure to walk out onto the Ventura Pier and to take in the views of the city, Ventura Pier Beach, and the Channel Islands.
Emma Wood State Beach
Emma Wood State Beach is a California State Beach in Ventura, California. It is located on the Santa Barbara Channel on the west side of the Ventura River estuary and south of the railroad tracks of the Coast Line and the US Highway 101 freeway.
The beach is named after Emma Grubb Wood who once owned the 8,000-acre Taylor Ranch. The beach is popular for walking, fishing, swimming, and surfing. The beach includes the remains of two artillery installations built in 1942 in response to the Bombardment of Ellwood, a Japanese submarine attack on the Ellwood Oil Field. The park also include a primitive campground for recreational vehicles. There are no sewage, water, or electricity connections, and no tent camping is allowed.
#7.Ventura Botanical Gardens
The mission of the Ventura Botanical Gardens is to create and maintain public gardens for the preservation, education, cultural contribution and enhancement of the entire community.
Currently the garden is closed due Thomas Fire which burn most of the garden. Check back often on their website to see their progress or if you are interested In volunteering.
#8.H Gallery + Studios
Ventura has quite a few galleries, too many to post on this list so we decided to add one of our favorite gallery spaces in the 805. They have amazing artists openings and their residents artists are pretty
remarkable, Society 805 had the opportunity to interview 3 artists a few years ago. H Gallery + Studios is a 10,000 sq ft vintage building completely dedicated to the arts; featuring 3 distinct exhibition spaces and 15 working artists. (please note) We will be creating a list of galleries in the near future and will be adding a link from here once we do.
#9. MUSEUMS
Museum of Ventura County
Founded in 1913, The Museum of Ventura County celebrates, preserves and interprets the art, history and culture of Ventura County, the California Channel Islands and the surrounding region. Their collections, exhibitions, educational programs and research library are designed to be a gathering place for the community to inspire curiosity and conversations about the past and the stories of who they are and what makes the unique.
Mission San Buenaventura
San Buenaventura Mission: Ninth and last founded by Blessed Junipero Serra among California's 21 Missions.
Albinger Archaeological Museum
The Albinger Archaeological Museum is named after Ventura Mayor (1969-1973) Albert R Albinger, the museum is built on the home site of saloon keeper and early mayor Angel Escondon, and displays artifacts spanning 3,500 years of Ventura history encompassing 5 different cultures (Chumash, Spanish, Mexican, Chinese and circa 1850 U.S.) from a single archaeological site next to San Buenaventura Mission.
A.J. Comstock Fire Museum
This is a small tribute to an earlier era of firefighting, the A.J. Comstock Fire Museum provides a window exhibit into the past, with displays of equipment and historical photographs from the turn of the century, and the history and growth of Ventura County’s Fire Department, including the Chinese Fire Company which operated in Ventura for nearly 30 years.
Dudley House Museum
Dudley House in Ventura, California is a historic house museum built in 1891 in a Late Victorian-style. Designed and built by local architect and builder Selwyn Shaw, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977. The Dudley House is open for tours the first Sunday of the month from 1pm to 4pm from January to November. The house is also open July 4 (hours depending on docent availability), and during other special events.
#10.Ventura Harbor Village
Ventura Harbor Village is a exciting & vibrant seaside attraction boasting 35 seaside boutiques, art galleries, and waterfront restaurants, plus entertainment venues, events, harbor boat tours, and much more!
Situated between the boats and the beach, Ventura Harbor Village offers a beautiful walking promenade giving guests a chance to unwind and relax on the water or on land.
There is also complimentary parking and free admission year-round. Enjoy
